signing

Philip Simmons High School is proud to announce that senior tight end and long snapper William Hollifield has signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and football career at North Greenville University.

Hollifield transferred into the Iron Horse program after his sophomore season and made an immediate impact, becoming a two-year starter and two-year letterman during one of the most successful stretches in program history. Over his two seasons, Philip Simmons posted 20 wins, advanced through four playoff games, and captured two region championships, with Hollifield playing a key role throughout.

On the field, Hollifield totaled 46 receptions for 691 yards and seven touchdowns, added two sacks, and delivered perfect snaps on all PATs, field goals, and punts. His versatility set him apart, as he contributed at tight end, long snapper, and even stepped into a starting offensive line role when the team needed him.

Hollifield’s performance earned him multiple honors, including 2024 Newcomer of the Year, the 2025 Perseverance Award, and selection to the 2025 Live 5 News All Friday Night Lights Team. Despite battling a hamstring injury during the 2025 season, he worked his way back to support the team during its playoff run, exemplifying toughness and selflessness.

North Greenville University gains a versatile, dependable competitor whose work ethic and team-first mentality reflect the values of the Iron Horse football program.

Congratulations to William Hollifield and his family. Once an Iron Horse, always an Iron Horse.
