These Stags are making holiday magic happen! On Tuesday, our students were hard at work wrapping gifts for Berkeley ONEderland to ensure this the best holiday season ever for more than 200 BCSD students in need.

Ms. Jessen's 4th Block Marine Science class wrapped up their Marine Vertebrates - Fish Unit and celebrated their own "Shark Week" by dissecting dogfish sharks. The spiny dogfish shark is believed to be the world's most populous shark. The students examined and identified the external and internal structures of their sharks. The groups who dissected the female sharks discovered that some of their sharks were pregnant and had pups in utero. They also dissected the stomachs and found several small fish! We had a "smelly" fun-filled, and informative blast in the lab! #StagScientists #STANDOUT

Before the holidays are over, check out our Celebrate the Season card at Santee Canal Park!

BHS Human Geography classes spent today putting learning into action by running around the National Geographic South Carolina Big Map. Students are learning about the Subnational Division of States by racing to put cones on the state map. We had fun! #LearningInAction #STAGS #STANDOUT

Stags get to 5-1 on the season. Next Game Monday 12/11 @ Hanahan! #Stags #STANDOUT

The Stags are not only crushing it in athletics and fine arts, but also in academics! Students in Mr. Watts' AP US Government competed in the We The People competition this year! This competition is a fierce battle of wits and knowledge about the U.S. Constitution. Only the best and the brightest students can hope to win the coveted trophy and a trip to Washington, DC. Our students have been preparing for months. They have studied the history, principles, and values of American democracy, and practiced their skills in research, critical thinking, and public speaking. And it paid off! Our Stags finished 3rd in the Competition. Teammates, Taylor Forrester, Rylee Fenters, Emily Hodgens, and Angelo DonBullian took home the Most Effective Award for their presentation on Constitutional Change. #STAGS #STANDOUT

After-school tutoring is now available to students every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15-5:15 in the media center! It is a drop-in style tutoring. Students may simply come in whenever they need the help.

Berkeley Wellness challenged the Stag Faculty and Staff as part of their efforts to improve health and wellness.

Alvin Green from Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) came to Ms. Lampkin's Fundamental of Computing class to complete a Biometrics activity. Students were able to play NCIS by investigating a crime using fingerprints, facial biometrics, and handwriting analysis. Students learned to connect and read their own fingerprint. Thank you, NIWC!!
