MIDDLE SCHOOL MADNESS: LITERACY EDITION!
Our Middle Schoolers brought the heat this month for the Middle School Lexia Comprehension Challenge! After weeks of hard work leveling up their reading skills, we ended with a tie for our winning homerooms:
Mrs. Lizzano-Lamons’ Homeroom and Mrs. Allen’s Homeroom
To celebrate our literacy champions, Ms. Shelly from the James Island Dairy Queen at 345 Folly Road generously donated ice cream cupcakes! Thank you so much, Ms. Shelly, for fueling our hard-working readers!

Round 2 of Field Day brought the energy for our 3rd–5th graders! From friendly competition to incredible teamwork, our students showed up and gave it their all.
A huge THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers, dedicated teachers, and supportive staff who made the day run smoothly. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made this experience unforgettable for our students!

Today we celebrate Joshua Mathew St. Laurent for his solid character and the sunshine he brings wherever he goes! Your positivity and leadership make CLS a brighter place every day.

We wanted 6th-8th Grade Field Day to be more than just competition—we wanted connection. Much appreciation to Ms. Ellis for leading the creation of our incredible Buddy Benches, soon to be featured in our school garden!
Students jumped in, picked up a paintbrush, and quite literally left their mark on something meaningful. These benches will be a place to gather, connect, and remind our students and staff that no one stands alone at CLS.

Middle School Olympic Field Day was one for the books!
From our Parade of Nations to school spirit, homeroom competitions, intramurals, and buddy bench paintings—our students showed up, showed out, and supported one another every step of the way. We wrapped it all up with an exciting student volleyball tournament that brought the energy to an all-time high!
We are so grateful for every teacher, staff member, and student who helped make this day possible.

The following CLS students were selected for the BCSD Special Talent Enrichment Program (STEP) through an audition process in January. They have been identified as gifted in the arts and will participate in enrichment activities this summer.

Our 8th grade students brought learning to life with a media convention-style showcase!
Half of the class presented their research projects while the other half sharpened their public speaking skills by engaging as the audience—asking questions, giving feedback, and learning from their peers.
From start to finish, students showed confidence, collaboration, and curiosity. We’re so proud of the hard work and growth they demonstrated—job well done!
